“FASHION AND TECHNOLOGY” BACHELOR

Objective:

To train, in a 3 year period, designers/patent making, targeting to achieve the following 4 strengths:

  1. operating at a global scale
  2. excelling in the technical subjects
  3. a thorough knowledge of the way trends are working today
  4. a tuition aiming to boost students’ creativity

The "Fashion and Technology" Bachelor enables worldwide students to benefit from the exceptional fashion and cultural Parisian environment and to present, at the end of their 3rd academic year, their graduation collections to a jury composed of highly prestigious fashion personalities.

Eligibility

The “Fashion and Technology” Bachelor is open to worldwide pupils who have acquired their baccalaureate diploma (or an equivalent international degree), on the basis of study of the file submitted by the student.
The students having already attended 2 academic years in fashion design have the possibility to register directly into the 3rd academic year.

First academic year

Objectives :

Give a solid background in design and a good grasp of the IT tools, understand the inner working of the fashion sector, attain a general culture in fashion.

A. DESIGN

  • Design of the silhouette, informatics applied in design, unfolding of the trends.

B. MODEL MAKING

  • The basis of the patronage and of the molding, the principles of the assembly of the garments

C. INFORMATICS

  • Manipulating Photoshop and Illustrator applied in design

D. TECHNOLOGIE OF THE TISSUES

  • Knowing the tissues and their utilization

E. HISTORY OF FASHION

  • The transformations of the garments from prehistory to the XXth century

F. ENGLISH

  • Business English and technical English

Second academic year

Objectives :

Enhancing the methods of building a collection, understand the economic functioning of the fashion brands, procure a general culture on art and design, boost the creativity of the students.

A. DESIGN

  • Compiling a design file on at will and given themes, study of the creative contemporary movements

B. MODEL MAKING

  • Patronage and molding of finished garments, innovation in model making, assembly and finalizing

C. INFORMATICS

  • Creating an integral design file with the help of IT tools

D. TECHNOLOGIE OF THE TISSUES

  • The proper use of tissues, textile innovation

E. FASHION MARKETING

  • Functioning of a fashion brand, the concept of market positioning, brand territory, brand image…

F. ENGLISH

  • Business English and technical English

Third academic year

Professionalizing students through the creation of an entire collection and through an internship at the end of the studies

  • Creating a graduation collection and conceiving a fashion parade

2.Personal development: how to efficiently sell yourself (DRH intervention)

  • The 6 major phases in a coherent personal marketing
  • CV and letter of motivation

3. Design

a. Collection concept

  • Concepts of brand, lines, target, positioning
  • Compatibility between the blueprint and the design
  • Collection plan
  • Seasonal rhythms

b. Composing the graduation collection (around 30 models out of which 4 realized)

  • Research on the given topic (exhibits etc.)
  • Defining the concept of the collection
  • Design file: atmosphere, colors, tissues, shapes, accessories etc.
  • Feasibility study: (topic, target, budget etc.)

c. The fashion parade

  • The different types of display
  • Collection style/Parade style
